I think u'r right about the 3 weeks......Minnie was in heat 21 days her
1st heat, at 8 months old. I had her spayed before her next heat.

It's totally natural for a female dog to have a heat cycle, it does
not hurt them. IMO, I would wait a couple of more weeks before you
get her spayed and let her finish her cycle. It probably would make
her more uncomfortable to have major surgery during the cycle because
they are going through all those hormonal changes as it is.
