you anyhow, lol......

I wont go into EVERYTHING that has kept me away, but one of the biggies has
been my IG Dora.

As many of you know, Dora broke her leg about 7 weeks ago. Vet recommended
surgery as the best option due to the shortest healing/recovery time, but the
price was WAY out of my range. He also offered a second option which he said
would work just as well, but would have a very long recover/healing time and
that was to splint/cast the leg till it healed. Well, we have tried that.

Today, we took Dora back for x-rays. When the splint came off, her leg was
badly infected, swollen and just an all around mess. X-rays showed there was NO
healing whatsoever. The bone had not even began to heal or knit back. Vet said
only option was go ahead with the surgery or amputate.

I would not amputate. These dogs have fragile legs the way it is....what if I
amputated and then she later broke another leg????? I also could not afford the
surgery....no way in a million years. I told them I would probably have to
surrender her to a rescue group that could afford to properly care for her.

Now, let me backtrack just a bit. I am kinda between vets right now. The vet
I have used for more than 20 years decided to sell his practice and
semi-retire....but work part time for someone else. But I had no idea where he
went. So, I have been using a few different vets but not yet comfortable with
any of them.

When I left the vet today I decided I was gonna go search for my Old vet
because if anyone could help, Doc Dozier could!! I FOUND HIM!!!!!!!!! He said
he has dealt with this type of thing many times and he could do a simple
surgery of putting in a pin in the bone and it would heal just fine!!! I am
SOOOO happy!!!!! Of course this will still run me around $500 but that is much
cheaper than the $3000 for the other type of surgery.

If I had just found him 7 weeks ago, Dora would be well on her way to
recovery now. As it is, she will go in for her surgery Friday morning. She
doesn't have anything on the leg now because the wounds need to air out and
heal...so her leg is just dangling. I know she will not be feeling well from
now till Friday, so keep her in prayers please.....but things are finally
looking up for her!!PTL!!!

  Marsha
