foster for a rescue group and we are all overthe
states. we charge a fee depending on the vettingthey
had to have to save them from the puppy mills
andbreeders. ours include the spay/nuture and shots
utd.but we also work with the adoptive parents to make
iteasier fro them to get the adoption fee up.---

It hasgotten to the point that it is a lot cheaper to
go buya full blooded registered dog of any breed than
to tryto "rescue" a mixed breed! I do understand
adoptionfees for several reasons, not the least of
which is topay for the actual running of the shelter,
but if mostof these shelters truly are "non-profit"
then I'm thequeen of England!! Which is why myself and
severalothers have started the yahoo group rescueachi
to tryto place chis in homes without these
extraordinary cost. However, now that I am setting here
with an adorablechi/jrt mix, seems no one wants him!!!
So looks like Iam gonna end up having to turn him over
to one of thoserescue groups that will charge someone
an arm and a legto love him!> Marsha> > ----- Original

Boysome of the rescues and shelters are so expensive
Herein Colorado the shelters I know of range from
around$50 to $400 to $500 in boulder and a couple of
otherplaces. I know they need money to run the shelter
butyou would think it would be better to adopt out at
asmaller price and get the dog a home that charge
somuch and have to destroy some. We have a chi rescue
here that seems kind of expensive(to me) as well. Plus
they insist on a home visit and Ijust dont like
strangers at my house (my little phobia)LOLOL > > > >

that.....my daughter still wants a chi,but even the
rescue agencies online want$200.00-$300.00 for adoption
fees....plus having totravel to pick them up. This is
why I bought my Pennylocally.....had to pay the same
amount as a rescue, butat least I didn't have to
travel. She doesn't have themoney, since she is unable
to work since a shoulderinjury last Nov, she goes in
for surgery this Fri. ButI keep looking at the animal
shelter listings, becausethey r usually less
expensive......who knows, maybe I'll find herone.> > .
