My chi is 7 months old and pee pee pad trained but also outdoor trained. He will go on his pee pee pads whenever he goes, but if he is outside or we are in a rush he has no problem going outside. Of course if it is raining or snowing he will not even leave the door! I had him in an exercise pen at the beigging months, but he would shred his pads and then dance in his poop and pee all day. I eventually had no choice, but to crate him and it works much much better. He likes his crate and will not go potty in it. I get home from work and let him out and his pads are right next to his crate and he will go. It is nice that he can go outside, but it is great in the middle of the night when he doesnt have to wake me up he will just go right to his pee pee pad!
