My 8 mo old female chi, Sissy Girl, loves to bite too. But the one of the first thing I taught her to do was to "LEAVE IT". I can put anything down on the floor and tell her to "LEAVE IT" and she will not touch it until I tell her "OKAY". This will also work with the biting problem or the socks or pant leg problem. Cause when I tell her to "LEAVE IT", that tell her to stop whatever she is doing and walk away from it. It also teaches her respect for me and self desipline for herself. Everytime I feed her, I point for her to LAYDOWN and put my hand out for the STAY command. Then I put her bowl down and the floor. She will not move until I tell her OKAY, and point to her bowl. Most of the commands I am teaching her is hand only commands. NO VOICE. She loves to bit daddy's socks when he comes in the house. He just tells her to LEAVE IT in a firm voice and she sits down and looks up at him. He loves it. I have trained a toy pom this way years ago. I learned a long time ago that size does not mean that you have to put up with bad behavior from a dog. You would not allow a German Shepherd to do some of the things that a Chi does. Chi's like to be trained. They love to please their owners. Start training while they are very young. Their mother's would never have put up with this kind of action either. They would put them to the ground on their back and gently bite their little necks and growl at them to teach them not to do that anymore. We are their mother's now and we must correct BAD behavior. Sissy Girl came to us when she was 5 months old. I never knew a little 4 lb bag of fur could bite and bark so much. Now I allow her to bark at the door twice and I tell her to SHHHHHHHsh. She stops barking and growles in a very low voice. She is a pure joy now. I sure hope this helps everyone on the subject of biting and bad behavior. Jean & Sissy Girl
