Donna, My Poppy had continued to vomit after 2 weeks of meds . A Barium x-ray revealed something in her stomach. My vet asked me whether I wanted a biopsy done or exploratory surgery. He felt there was no need to sedate her 2x. He went in - found this ball of infection that was thickening her stomach wall. He also spayed her at the same time. Test results revealed a bacterial infection with no known cause ? Baytril (antibiotic) was the only med that finally cured it. What does your vet propose for Henry at this time?

Biopsy? Henry has had historically slightly elevated Bun Creat ratios. We went to Cornell who made me do a Fecal occult blood test on his stool (after a five day meat fast) which came up negative ruling out GI Hemorrhage. They suspect its his diet but I went to another local internist who has ultra sound and he took a look at his insides, noting a thickened stomach lining and a slightly enlarged prostrate. (he's intact). best, michelle and henry in the beautiful Catskill Mountains, NY Donna: My chi mix Poppy had stomach wall thickening as a pup when she had a very bad bacterial infection. At first the vet thought she had an obstruction , but surgery revealed a pocket of infection. Unknown cause ? Why was Henry ultrasounded ? . ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ AOL now offers free email to everyone.
