Brigette , Sorry no one answered right away. I think this is a very large group with a lot of posting . I'm fairly new myself and I notice new people everyday. I myself do not answer emails everyday on this group. I consider myself somewhat knowledgeable about chi's and small dogs. I have 7 dogs , 6 of which are small. I have 2 in my crew that are very food aggressive. Molly, one of my chi's is very food aggressive. I have had her since 12 weeks old and she has never had to fight for food. None of my dogs have to fight for food. I feed all mine on separate plates in different areas from each other. No central food dish here. Molly guards all her food and treats. One of my chi mixes does the same. Small dog behavior ? I would say yes....at least so in my house.
