Hi Erinn, Sounds like Gigi may be bored & that's why she's destroying things. Does she chew on the same things? You may want to try bitter apple spray. I took my chi Lily to pupply classes. This is what we learned from the classes: When I'm standing and Lily is jumping, I ignore her & as soon as she puts all 4 paws on the floor or sits, I say "yes" & reward her. At first I rewarded her with a small food treat, but now I reward her with attention & playing. Saying "yes" as soon as she stops the bad behavior followed immediately with a treat is key. "Yes" is my bridge word. You could use any word or a clicker as the bridge or marker signal. You could use this technique to reinforce other good behaviors. Hope this is helpful. Kathy K Rockland, MA

I took in Gigi a Chi mix about 2 months ago. Some one was going to bring her to the pound. They told me she was about 7 months old at the time. I am having alot of problems training her in everything. I dont like keeping my dogs in crates during the day while im working, i never had to do it with my Shepard mix. I started with not putting gigi in the crate and she did good for a long time. Now when ever i come home something is always destroyed!! This dog will eat anything. So i have started putting her in the crate untill she can learn not to destroy things. I have to keep her int he crate while we sleep to cause she is so hyper she jumps on us all night and continuously licks our faces. Does anyone have any advice??? I cant seem to ever have her calm she is always jumping, you cant sit down without her jumping on you and continously licking you.
