We used the Solid Gold puppy food (can't remember if Hunchenflocken or Hundenflocken is the puppy food - LOL!) and then switched to Innova puppy food. When they were adults we changed to the adult Innova. Then later as adults we switched to Royal Canin Chihuahua 28. I swear they have much less tartar on their teeth with the Royal Canin - a month after using it, it almost looked like they had had a dental. It was so noticable, I was mentioning it to all of my friends who have chis. You can tell in pictures from before and now - and they haven't had dentals. They still have some tartar, but not like it was. The main reason I tried the Royal Canin was that I had heard it was really good, it didn't have any "bad" ingredients in it, and I could finally stop going to a distributor to get my dog food (woo hoo!). The girls are really happy with it. They do have a puppy food that I would not hesitate to use if I had a puppy. I may try to talk my hubby into one too - there is someone who can't keep theirs on craigslist - but then I would feel bad about not talking him into thier sister - I'm evil!!!!! I don't think I can talk him into their sister, but I could probably talk him into a puppy ... thier sister climbs out of the xpen (in about 5 seconds flat) which makes my hubby pretty anxious and testy about just having her visit in the past. The one time we babysat Jersey for a week, we had to send her home early to stay with her husband because all Jersey did was bark at my husband ... so I just don't think I can talk him into her even if I try hard. Anyway, they want $300 to rehome the puppy pooch, so I don't think everyone is just going to jump on her. We'll see, I don't "need" another chi - LOL! She's a cutie though! Shell
