When I looked into getting chi's (I currently have two) I read extensively that
you can't have them unsupervised outside due to their small size and have to
always be aware of predators ie other dogs, cats, birds of prey and other prey
animals. Luckily I haven't had a problem yet but I had heard of a eagle
carrying a dog some distance before dropping it! (crazy huh, I don't know if it
was a chihuahua some small breed i think) So I guess after hearing something
like that and something like your story makes me extra vigilent!

Hi, and welcome to the group. I am Marsha in KY and I am owned by
currently 8 chis and several other pets. I have had Chihuahuas for about 20
years and been a breeder for about 10.

Actually, Chihuahuas are on the high end of longetivity. A 15 to 20 year life
span is a normal occurrence. Many live past that as well, but this is about
average.

Sorry you have had such hard luck with them. I am so glad you stood up for
your chi in court!

      Hi!
My name is Bruce, I live in Silver City New Mexico I sometimes wish I could
have another Chihuahua. In 2000 all my friends knew that I was looking for a
little dog. One day my Friends Cricket & Fred came over to my house with a
little boy and asked me if I wanted to buy him. I told them yes!!! I gave them
all the money that I had in my pocket and told them that on pay-day I would pay
for the puppy, Well I got him I called him "BUDDY" he was a wonderful enjoyable
everything kinda little boy, A great dog. Well my parents are old and ask me
and buddy to move out to there house (I have a RV) so we did. The people who
live two houses away have a German Shepard, big, it got lose one day and
attacked my little boy. He was so chewed up that I had to have him put down.
Shocking, I thought I was going to die to! I had him for almost 3 years. I have
alot of pictures, and albums of him.
It was real bad for a couple of months, real BAD. I called Cricket and told
her, she told me that Buddy's mother was about to have another litter that she
would see what she could do.Her boy-friend called me afew day later and said he
had my dog? I went over to their house and they had HIM. He looked just like
BUDDY. Well I was cured! He fit right in my hand. I call him PEE-WEE. He is a
very very good dog. He is almost 2 years old now. The neabories dog got lose
again but didn't hurt pee wee much. But this time I took him to court and held
him responsible for his dog, I won and got almost $960.00. Just small change
but just enough, that he got rid of his dogs. Man what luck! I love my little
boy so much! But the part that I don't like is the short life span these little
guys have. Well we will make the best of it, won't we? I have alot of pictures
of him that I would love to share with everyone. This is my 3rd computer that I
have in my life, but it is all new and I don't
get how to do pictures, but don't fear I will get it sooner than later!
Well this and you are all new to me and us.
I hope You and Yours Have a Great-Day!
  Bruce & Pee-wee! XOXOX
