Yep, same here.  Tater Tot has no papers but I love him just the same.  I also 
have 2 full blooded doberman pinchers that where rescues without papers and 
they make wonderful pets.  
  Speaking of altering Chis,  when would you suggest to get a male done.  I've 
only had him 2 weeks now but he's definately old enough.

If you don't want to breed, you may concider a Chi w/o papers. I got a 
full blooded Chi at 6 Wks. old (13 oz.) for $150. No papers. Just a 
loving pet who thinks she's a human. Didn't want to breed, so had her 
fixed at 6 mos.
