Subject: Strained poop, lost appetite

I am going to the vet tomorrow but wondered if any of you could guide my
research.

Here are my symptoms:
Henry is two and has always eaten two meals ( I make his food fresh: beef and
25% sweet potato, occaisionally chicken instead of beef for variety). He almost
always wakes up to poop first thing and comes in to relish his morning meal
then gets another one when I eat dinner. He normally eats like its the most
delicious thing on the planet.

Lately he does not want to eat in the a.m and has gotten pickier and pickier
though eats in the late afternoon, he is not eating as much as he once did. He
is fit and exactly the right weight.
The last two mornings he seems to strain to poop and today strained and did not
go yet. He seems still vigorous and wants to go for his walks but I fear
something dire.

His last CBC showed nothing out of the ordinary (one month ago). I test him
often as for a spell his BUN was high (attributed to puppyism).

Is there any other tests I should look for?
Last year he was ultra sounded and there was slight concern for a thickened
stomach lining but I was told to just watch him befroe the next step (more
invasive endoscopy, did not want ot subject him to that unnecessarily).

I am trying not to be an alarmist but know its better to have more facts sooner
rather than wait until its a full blown problem. Thanks for any ideas!

  best,
michelle and henry
