Hi Claudia,
Well, I left the pup out last night. I went back and forth on what to do and
took everyone's advice into consideration. In the end, I left a box and
blankets in the driveway for the pup. If I put them anywhere else, the pup just
left them and went back to her spot in the drive. Once I put the box in the
drive, she stayed in it. I also blocked the drive so no one could drive in it,
and I contacted the phone office today to tell them if they needed to access
the poles on my property, to be on the lookout for the pup.

I still have not seen momma, but I know she is coming back. The pup is too
healthy and too happy to be being neglected. I check on it often and it seems
to be one happy and playful pup and it's little belly always seems full and it
has such adorable puppy breath....so I guess I worried myself
needlessly....momma is there somewhere, just avoiding me, lol.

It is pitch black outside in our rural area so I can't watch. What I finally
decided to do is put the box and blankets in the drive way where the pup is
waiting and turn the rest over to God and pray for the best. I will check on it
first thing in the am.

I think I would put the pup in a cage right around where the mom left it
off the roadway (with some bedding etc) and I would think the mom would hear it
and come back and hang around the cage until you could let the pup out and the
mom can get it. I would think that the pup would make some distress calls from
being in a cage and that might bring the mom faster and then you could just let
the pup out...maybe watch from a distance for a bit?
    Good luck
    Sue

Need some advice regarding a stray pup ASAP.
A stray dog has had a pup on my property.... quiet a distance from my
house......I have only seen one pup. We have been having a lot of trouble
lately with the neighbor's lab's coming to my yard and attacking my husky/wolf
mix dog. So, when I saw this dog on my property, my son ran it off....before he
realized she had a pup with her! I do not know if this is a singleton pup or if
she was in the process of moving the litter and when son ran her off, she
abandoned this one.

Pup is in the middle of a drive way. The drive is not often used, but is
occasionally used by repairmen working on lines....and right now there is a lot
of telephone repairs going on in the area, so there is a chance someone will
drive on this driveway and run over the pup. I have moved the pup out of the
drive, to the side, several times, but it keeps crawling back into the
driveway. I myself nearly ran over it today when I went to check on it and
didn't see it there!!

The pup is approximately 2 weeks old!! Eyes are open, but not even a sign
of any teeth. Here is my dilemma..... ...If mom is coming back to care for pup,
I do not want to move it. But, if mom has abandoned it after being scared off
by son, then I fear it will not make it through the night. I have placed a box
and a blanket beside the drive and placed pup in there, but she keeps coming
back out. I do not know what to do!! We do not have animal control in the
area.......I can not bring the pup into my house because I do not know what
diseases it may carry and pass on to my chis........

    Advice anyone?????

    Marsha
