I don't want to scare you or anything, but in all honesty, if that is truly
what it is, it will likely only get worse. When the onset is at an older age,
sometimes they can get by, but when the onset is that early, it will likely
lead to a lot of pain as she gets older. My honest suggestion to you is to
first make absolutely sure that that is what it is and not an injury or
arthritis or something. Then, start a surgery fund. You likely have a little
while before it becomes unbearable, so you have some time to save up the money
for the surgery. Many vets will tell you that to put it off will only make it
worse. The truth is, the pain will become worse over time, but the surgery
itself will not not change if it is done now or next year or whatever, the
recovery will still be the same. Like I said, I don't want to worry you, but if
it is LP, and she is this young, you will eventually either have to have the
surgery, let her suffer great pain, or put her to sleep to spare her. Start
saving money and set a goal for a year from now or something. She will likely
be ok till then. Make sure you do not breed her.....don't want to chance
passing this on to another pup.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Chi puppy displaced his kneew joint

Thanks for info. The Puppy is a year old and does not cry at all, just
his knee gives out and he fall/sits. He is now learning to play while
laying down when playing with his sister. We have a step by the couch,
he steps with other leg first (as he annot use the bad leg first, he
already has learned this) and can get up and down but leg gives out at
times. He is a good dog and he is adapting to lifestyle changes. But I
cannot afford that surgery this vet bill killed me.
What happens is he keeps with the bad leg and no surgery is done? We
continue with the glucosamine and it doesn't work. Will he adapt like a
lame leg or can it be worse? Again he has never cried out in pain. If
you touch him he is not in pain. What about taping the leg, will that
work? To allow it to rest.
