Yes....that is what I did too. I read somewhere that the Moma dog trains her pup this way. She yelps and walks away. I used it to stop Minnie from bitting my big, old hound dog, Ruth, too. Ruth would take so much abuse from Minnie, when Minnie was a puppy, so I would say "OW" real loud when Minnie would bite Ruth's face and she would stop biteing her. I didn't want Ruth to get hurt or to bite Minnie back since Ruth could have swollowed Minnie's head, whole. Puppy teeth are very sharp and Minnie would bite Ruth's lips. It had to hurt a little. This method worked very well.
Blessings to u and your's :-)

My Tia who is 13 MO loves to mouth my finger. She doesn't bite them at all.. We stopped the biting by going "OW" real loud and then immediately stopping playing with her.

I know there are many opinions on biting...basically you have to nip this in the bud! asap. Your puppy isn't looking at your as the alpha or pack leader. puppies will play bite with hands, fingers...but if she has toys, place them in her mouth instead of your hand.

Do you say "NO" when she does?? growling and biting is a protest against going into the crate as a negative place. R there puppy classes in your area? that would B a start.
