That's what I've seen all my dogs do too.  My pack of seven is very friendly to 
the babies but when the babies get too rough, the grown dogs will yelp and walk 
away.  Removing the playmate is an effective deterrent and the sound let's them 
know WHY the playmate is being removed.
I've got mine trained now that "no bites" means stop or I'll go away and it 
works.
