My Pita no longer does any steps, she has learned to wait for me to pick her up. – em J ________________________________ From:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com [mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com ] On Behalf Of Claudia Werner Sent: Friday, August 15, 2008 9:54 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com Subject: Re: [ Chihuahuas ] Jabby-Chihuahua- Luxating Patella Some one sad a Ramp that is what im going to make for Brutus and Sissy.I have stairs everywere for them. Made me think about how the pooches just pop up anywhere, jump down here, jump up there... My friends Maltese who is just 3 lbs threw out her back in May - her spine was actually twisted. She was xrayed and sure enough 1 disc was compressed. She and her Mom live in a town house with many, many stairs. Fifi was a hyper gal, I guess after 8 years of all the up & down took it's toll. One day in May Fifi wouldn't move at all...After a treatment of Chiropractic visits (9) along with anti-inflammitory meds, she was fine. She didn't need surgery. Fifi is restricted to do any up and down stairs, jumping etc... This has made me aware of a simple injury that can easily be avoided... The kids get up on the bed with a Lookout booster seat, and on Gabby's bed a triangle back lounger for when you'd like to sit-up in bed...works well as a ramp. Now I'm looking for steps, and step stools....any other idea's?? Thank you, Gloria C "Be strong and courageous.. . for God is with you wherever you go" ________________________________ To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] com Date: Thu, 14 Aug 2008 17:41:18 -0700 Subject: Re: [ Chihuahuas ] Jabby- Chihuahua - Luxating Patella That is a very good idea. They would not have to jump at all.Thank you. Kiko has long legs and jumps all over the place. I have thought of her breaking a leg but not about all the other things that you mentioned. She jumps into our trucks and cars, couch, bed, chairs and knows what she is doing. She would jump on and off the couch, she ended up blowing out two discs and ended up paralyzed. Luckily, I was able to afford her surgery and now she walks again but is wobbly and has bladder control problems L Her back was prone to injury , her discs were already calcifying (she was only 2).. My vet suggested putting large pillows on the floor where they like to jump off to absorb some of the shock. She is no longer able to jump, but I put pillows down for the other guys and they do prefer to land on the pillows instead of the hardwood floor. – em J ________________________________ From:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com [mailto: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com ] On Behalf Of [EMAIL PROTECTED] net Sent: Thursday, August 14, 2008 12:15 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com Subject: Re: [ Chihuahuas ] Jabby- Chihuahua - Luxating Patella Wow, well now I know a little more about the innerworkings of Chi's.. hehe Thank you Em! Hopefully it won't get so bad that she'll require surgery at any time in the future. Though it sure might help if she'd stop jumping up on the couch and then back down again. LOL That scares me a little. I'm always afraid she'll break a leg. :/ Jesslan Foster Mom @ Shih Tzu & Fur Baby Rescue - http://www.stfbr. . com/ Volunteer @ Chautauqua County Humane Society - http://spcapets. com/ Furever Mom To Doggy - Jaelyn Furever Mom To Kitties - Lucius, Gypsy, Kylee and Ethaniel Visit My Kitties, Doggy & Fosters - http://mdnyhtkyss. com/cattitude/ ----- Original Message ----- From:em To:[EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com Sent:Thursday, August 14, 2008 10:40 AM Subject:RE: [ Chihuahuas ] Jabby- Chihuahua - Luxating Patella That is what luxating patella is. However, it occurs in different grades, so Jaelyn’s just isn’t bad enough to require surgery. The closest I've come is the vet told me Jaelyn's knees were slipping out of place? I asked what that meant and she told me that it could cause arthritis later on in life. :( Jesslan Foster Mom @ Shih Tzu & Fur Baby Rescue - http://www.stfbr. com/ Volunteer @ Chautauqua County Humane Society - http://spcapets. com/ Furever Mom To Doggy - Jaelyn Furever Mom To Kitties - Lucius, Gypsy, Kylee and Ethaniel Visit My Kitties, Doggy & Fosters - http://mdnyhtkyss. com/cattitude/ ----- Original Message ----- From: "argosy68" <[EMAIL PROTECTED] com> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED] ups.com> Sent: Wednesday, August 13, 2008 6:31 PM Subject: [ Chihuahuas ] Jabby- Chihuahua - Luxating Patella > Has anyone else here gone through this?
