SIT 1. Equip yourself with a small treat and face your dog.
2. With your dog in a standing position, hold your hand with the treat in it above her nose. Then slowly move your hand between her ears. 3. Your dog will look up to see the treat. She will lower her hind legs into a sit. (See Note) 4. The instant her bottom hits the ground, praise her and give her a treat. 5. Repeat 10 to 15 times. Praise and treat every time she sits. 6. If she sits but you have not given her the cue, do not treat. Ignore her. Wait until she stands up, then try again. Note: Katie just backed up when I tried to move the treat toward her. So I placed her in a corner so she could not back up. Worked great!!
