Wow! Katie knows lots of commands, that's great! I haven't taught Gizmo much yet (he's 5 months old). It's so hard to train him because my other two dogs (Aussies) are always right there. All three of them are always together. They (The Aussies) know when the treats come out (and the clicker) it's fun, training time!! Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Even if I put them in another room, they will go CRAZY because they can hear me training Gizmo and they want in on the action! I will have to find a place away from home to train Gizmo, I guess. I am so scared to put him in an obedience class because he is so small compaired to the other puppies/dogs. I wish they had specific
small-dog training classes available!

Katie knows watch me, sit, speak, wait, down, come, under, spin, over (jump over something), and we are just starting crawl. It is my belief that the FIRST command one should teach their dog is 'watch me.' Once the dog knows this command, teaching her/him all other commands is much easier. All dogs of all ages can be taught anything. The only difference is their attention span. Puppies have a much shorter attention span than adult dogs. With puppies, training should last only as long as a commercial break - 2 to 4 minutes. And training must ALWAYS be fun and positive. Approach
training with the same attitude and excitement as you feel when playing with your dog. I'll send the training sessions that I use with Katie, beginning with 'watch me.'
