Hi everyone,
I have a 5 month old long haired toy chihuahua, Chloe who is 2.5 lbs.
And also have a 4 yr old long haired, 10 lbs, Ava. Both are females. (I
couldn't have just one chi! They are just a fantastic breed!)

lastnight Chloe did a bizarre thing and I was hoping some of you would be
able to either -1- tell me it's normal behavior and not to worry, or -2-
have a chuckle and tell me my dog is weird, or -3- tell me why she might be
doing this

I'm an artist and i work at home quite a bit. Lastnight I was lounging down
on the couch and cutting a piece of paper. It was very detailed, so it was
taking me quite a while to cut. As I'm lounging there cutting, Chloe is
laying next to my left side (she is always such a sweetheart and loves being
right up close to me), my left arm is bent at the elbow, straight up in the
air holding the paper i'm cutting. All of a sudden Chloe gets up and looks
at my left forearm. I continue to work.
Then she gets up, grabs my arm, putting both of her arms around it
*very *tightly
and moves her body in closer. .... I thought, "Oh surely she's not going to
___ !" But, oh yes, she did! She started humping my arm. I immediately
thought - why in the world would a female puppy do this? Especially because
she could not have witnessed this behavior from other dogs - my dogs hang
out with one another and that's it. We see other dogs when we go for walks,
but other than some barking, they're not interested in other dogs.
What do ya'll make of this? Have any of you experienced this behavior in
your female chihuahuas?
... I have one idea, and perhaps this is it? Could she be displaying
dominance? She is so young, but has been developing a fiery little attitude
that she directs towards my older chi.

Also - I'm wondering, how old are female puppies when they get their first
cycle? Should I be expecting that to happen sometime soon (Chloe is 5 months
old now).

Thank you so much for any thoughts - tips - advice you might have on this!!!
