Mare, My prayers are with you during this trying time!
You have given him the best in his last days - He is safe
and at peace now!

With the joy of Dottie's new litter it is still tough and lonely in a sense.
Buddy the Dachshund that I rescued almost three years ago from a puppy mill
auction run by the Amish is saying it's time to say good-bye and let him go to
Rainbow Bridge.
When Buddy came to out house he had never been out of his little pen they
kept him in..he was just a stud dog. Used to sire litter after litter of
puppies. I traced it back through AKC and he has sired close to 30 litters !
Here at our house he has learned you get better things to eat than many
three day old bread and such. You get clean water,a clean place to eliminate,a
soft bed to sleep and most of all respect and true love.
That is what makes it so hard to say goodbye. It seems as though this time
has flown by and he hasn't had near enough of the 'good life'.
Sometimes life can turn bitter and hateful and I guess this is just another one
of those times.
Please say a prayer for his passing and the human that loves him
endlessly.I have had to put dogs to slumber before but this is one of those you
can hardly bear to even think of it.
The vet we use said put him down nearly 4 months ago but he wasn't
ready, now he is. He is refusing food and drinking very little water. There is
no way to administer the furosemide without needles and I will not put him
through that. The vet ultra-sounded him and never gave a definitive diagnoses
as to why he looks like a walking bowling ball. I am thinking it must be a
horrific tumor.
Tomorrow we make that journey of sorrows unless the Lord graciously takes
him tonight. Hubby is at work as a guard and no way to do anything until then.
Thanks for letting me vent....the pain is just too great. It won't stay
in anymore.

~Mare~
