Hi,

I hate to tell you this but my 3 yr old chi has just
as much energy!  Then I have a 10 mo old chi!  They literally
run through the house chasing each other.  They do this in spurts
of about a dozen times.  Then I take them to training class and
that certainly burns off energy!  I also train at home with them
every night.   My boys both perform at their own reading
program at my school, so they are pretty winded by bedtime.  Of
course at 5 in the morning they're raring to go!

Hi everybody! This is my first post here and I'm always happy to
get

to know other dog owners! I'm a first time Chihuahua owner- I have a

17 week old puppy named Peanut. I also have a 3 yr. old Shih Tzu

named Gingerbread.

I'm having a hard time with the amount of energy that Peanut has and

getting him enough exercise. I'm a housewife with only my 2 furry

kids, so my life pretty much revolves around them. I live in a one

bedroom apartment, so I don't have a yard for them to run around in.

I can take them for walks, but right now it seems too cold out for

Peanut. It's 30 degrees outside today and the high is only 40. A

little while ago I took them out, but Peanut just stood at my feet

and shivered. I'm going to try having him wear a fleece shirt with

his coat on top. That might help a little, but I'm not sure how much.

This guy has tons of energy! My Shih Tzu is very passive, so until

yesterday Peanut was pestering him endlessly. I decided that enough

was enough, did a little research and started teacing him "leave it"

and putting him in a time out after I said it for a second time.

Peanut is really smart, so he's picking it up fast. It's hard for him

to control himself though since he's such an energetic and playful

puppy. He has a million toys, I give him a kong stuffed with treats

and work on training for some mental stimulation. I also take him out

with me on errands and to petstores. I don't know what else to do

with the little guy!

Does anyone have suggestions and/or tell me that he'll grow out of

this puppy energy soon! lol
