Hi, Claudia! You don;t need a German shepherd! My larger (8lb.) chi is my service dog. I am disabled and wear a rather large brace on my right arm. Whenever I drop things he is right there picking up and retrieving what ever I need. He is a very special dog and literally, my right hand!!! We trained together and then got certified. You should really look into it!
