My dad is recovering from a stroke that he had in Aug. They had to life flight him to Cleveland Ohio...our local hospital told us there was nothing they could do for him....what a night...The doctors all told us that he's a miracle...and that as bad as his stroke was...he should have never lived. He was in ICU for a week...in Cleveland... then a "step down"room across the hall...then a nursing home...now he's home. He's doing great except has a slight problem with his memory....but no slurred speech or anything else. The president of the Humane Society had a stroke almost a month ago. The last I heard she's doing good too. Her family won't let any one from our group (the humane society) talk to her. My parents live in an apartment next to mine...our house is a big old farm house...one of the original homes in this neighborhood. ..it's divided into 4 apartments.. .my parents live in the front downstairs.. .my husband and I live in the back downstairs.. .with our pets...my parents have Sox's brother...and 2 elderly poodles....one is 14 years old...my youngest son who is 24 lives in the upstairs front apartment with his girlfriend.. .they have 2 Chihuahuas and a boxer...our next to youngest son lives in the upstairs back apartment... he just has a cat...WHEEeeee ...gees ole man...ALL of that just to say....I'm so glad we live close like we do...especially since my dad had the stroke...I help my parents out...so does my husband and sons that live here...it's a lot easier to walk from our living room...to their dining room (we have a door there) to help...especially when my dad first came home from the nursing home...we had to remodel the bathroom completely.. .took the tub out...opened the area up so we could get by with the walker and wheelchair.. .then we put a big double shower in his bedroom...and then he got to doing so good he doesn't need the wheelchair.. .walker.. .not even a cane! I still help my mom with the house work when she wants or needs...I usually wait till they go to the store or something and then go over and clean up...not that their place needs much...I just do up the dishes and sweep the floors...take care of my dad's medication.. .stuff like that...and I get to visit every day too! My name is Sharon...My husband and I live in Ohio...about 24 miles west of Cleveland... .as north as you can get...we're the last house before Lake Erie. Sure is COLD here this time of the year! We have one little Chihuahua named "Sox"...and my husband just got a German Shepherd puppy not too long ago...earlier I said she just turned 12 weeks old today...I made a mistake...she turned 13 weeks old today. Her name is "Trinka". We also have 8 cats~~~plus I take care of the strays that are dumped on me outside...and a few neighborhood cats...yes.. .I'm the "crazy cat lady" Ha-Ha...I don't care...I love cats~~~and dogs....well. ..all animals! Our little place is full though...well. ..I will make room for one more Chihuahua when the time is right...Ha-Ha It's a LONG story on how I got all the cats I have..but I still get calls from people wanting me to take their cats because they know how spoiled these guys...well. ..girls are. They're all spayed females...except one neutered male. And believe me...they ARE spoiled ROTTEN...Sox too.
