Oh, I forgot to mention to use a very soft cotton ball for cleaning the ears.
The big ones that you can break into smaller pieces are the best.  Never use a
Q-tip because it can hurt them.

Gizmo had an ear infection when he was a very young pup.  I don't think Chis
are prone to ear infections like floppy-eared dogs are (such as cocker
spaniels).  But, they do get them sometimes.  My vet told me to make sure to
keep the ears clean.  He gave me a gentle ear cleaning solution.  I clean my
dogs' ears everytime I clip their nails, just about once per month.  Gizmo has
not gotten another infection since that one.  You may want to clean Katydid's
more often since she has gotten two before.  There's a cleaning solution called
V.E.T. that works well.  I think it stands for Veterinary Ear Treatment
solution.

Are chihuahuas prone to ear infections ? If so is there any way I can
help her not get them ? My Katydid has one again for the second
time. The vet put her on 3 different meds. including 1 for pain. It's
so sad when she doesn't feel well.
