Hi, Arlene! thanks for the kind words. We are finding that the children are reading better and are more enthusiastic about reading. The children know that they must prepare BEFORE the dogs come. So....for the week before the dogs, they practice their books. The shear volume of practice helps tremendously. On the actual "dog day" children read more fluently and with more confidence! They also read multiple times simply because they want to read to every dog! They also discuss their books since many of my therapy dog teams have retired teacher humans in them. That just happened by accident!
