I think there are two types of litter boxes. One is just a box. with the
sides all the same height. The other style has the same height on three sides
and in front it has a lower wall, that almost looks like a scoop.(the style I
use). They do sell litter for the boxes, I bought some but my puppy either
played with it and scattered it all over or tried to eat it. So, I threw it
in the garbage and just lined the box with newspaper. It's worked fine. The
first day I put the litter box out, I sopped up some of my puppy's urine
onto the newspaper and put it in the box. The very next time the puppy had to
go, he stepped into the boxed sniffed the paper and used it. I did the same
thing with some poop and when he was little he used the box to pee and poop.
Now, mostly, he uses it to pee and goes outside to poop twice a day. Cesar
uses his box faithfully and has never peed in the house.
