I agree.....I will point out that we are not talking about an assist dog though.....that dog would have different rights than what we are refering too....we are refering to this dog as an ESA. Bascially, all an ESA is is a dog that the doctor feels offers an emotional support that is NEEDED by the person. We all have emotional attachments to our dogs ofcourse, but if the doctor feels the dog serves a purposes of keeping a person "grounded" so to speak, or emotionally stable, then they can be considered an ESA. (ofcourse that is a very watered down/simplified explaination of an ESA, lol) And yes, ESA's have HOUSING rights....to refuse an ESA team housing is a violation of the law and the landlord could loose their permits or liscences to rent, could be subject to fines, ect.....and if a legitimate ESA or SD team allows discrimination because it is not worht the trouble to fight it, then it makes it that much more difficult for the next team. So I would definitely talk to your local legal aid....make sure the doctor wrote the letter in such a way as to satisfy the legal requirements and make sue the doctor really knows what he is saying from a legal standpoint....if the attorney feels the letter is legally sufficient, then I would certainly press the issue.....
