That was awesome thanks for sharing your input about RAW Deanna...I need a
recipe to follow or something and then check the cost out of what it would cost
me to feed my crew...I would prefer food that doesn't sit out all day but I
also know my Chi's they love to pick thru the day...

Hi Charlierom,
I know this discussion is winding it's way over but I wanted to just share with
you a few things that really helped me to understand the raw thing. I have
always had dogs...I LOVE dogs!!! That love sent me on a search about 30 years
ago to find the very best food I could feed them . I started doing tons of
research...bought every book out there and started learniing all I could about
K9 nutrition. I thought I found the perfect kibble...then. Back in those days
the thinking was dry kibble with whole grain...not corn ....was best.
Well...then that company started having issues...it was a big name...but they
sold out to Proctor and Gamble...P&G changed formulas and started using the
cheapest cr&*% available for ingredients...I changed foods...the same thing
happened again with a different food. I became very frustrated and even in
those days spending $50 a bag for what I thought was the best food...it should
have been!!!! That frustration brought on
homecooking...I learned to balance my dogs meals with 50/25/25 formulas at
home. I was very fortunate to not have had to experience any fallouts from the
recalls that began to take place because I was preparing their meals at
home...many of my friends were not as lucky and lost dogs due to it!

I have never stopped doing research and trying to learn all I can...which led
me to raw. There are MANY vets and MOST nutritionists have come to this
conclusion as well...it is really an obvious one if you think about it.
BUT...there was the ICK factor for me...It was hard to get past so I stayed
with my home cooked balanced meals...UNTIL... my poodle started experiencing
seizures. I did not want to put him on the usual protocol...NO drugs if
possible...I wanted to find out why he was having the seizures FIRST...then
treat. My first change was diet. After reading about Epi's in general...it
seemed that diet was the first thing suggested to change. I removed anything
suspisious which most Vets felt were grains...so out they went...then certain
types of veggies...so out they went. Now I just basically was feeding them
meat. More reading...especially from some email groups I am on that were on
this path before me...and so I just made that jump to raw. SO
MANY things changed so fast I can not begin to tell you how thrilled i was
about them all. FIRST?? The seizures went immediately from about once a week to
about every 39 days. Bad breath vanished...stools became way less, perfectly
formed with little to no odor which told me that the digestive system was
working well!...coats got thicker and softer and skin issues vanished...no more
hot spots. Teeth became white and shiny...the tarter and plaque were GONE!
Everyone had more energy and seemed way more balanced emotionally...all ear
issues (yeast) went away...my dogs became 100% healthy!!! NOTHING i had ever
done in the past...the supplements...the best kibble....the homemade diet of
all ingredients impacted my dogs like the change to raw. So for me...raw
feeding is a miracle...it IS the answer to everything!!! My Titers came out
perfect this year so we were able to avoid many immunizations that most dogs
have to have with an unhealthy immune system.
This is the way dogs were designed to eat!!! I am sold!!! The world is
changing when it comes to this issue. People like me who are seeing the AMAZING
results are becoming CONVICTED of this choice. You will see many, many people
standing on soap boxes and shouting from roof tops because they have "found the
answer" to having a healthy, balanced dog! Not because they read something
online...but because it changed their lives and that of their dogs!! When
people have the experience and knowledge behind them...the TRUTH so to
speak...it does become a conviction...something you will stand up for and fight
for...I think that is why you see the "obsession" you noted in Darcey's post. I
have the same obsession...and had I been around the computer more you would
have gotten this reply then...fueled with all the passion I could muster behind
it...because it is a truth for me. I watched it save my Nugget!! For the last 3
months now he has only experienced just
one seizure...and a small one at that. His system is getting stronger...he
is healing. I watched my whole pack blossom and change...changes I didn't even
realize needed changing.

Anyway all this to perhaps give you some compassion towards us ZEALOUS raw
feeders!!! We are so excited I am afraid we just want everyone to see the truth
as well. I know for me it almost took losing Nugget for me to push through the
icky, unkown...but now that I have "crossed over"??? I will NEVER go back!!!
 Hugs In Him,
Deanna

It is clear from your posts here that you are obsessed with your raw meat diet
and believe it is the answer to everything. The vast majority of veterenarians,
animal nutritition experts, and experienced pet owners entirely disagree with
your ideas. Feed your own animals whatever you choose, but please do not post
false information as below, regarding the diets that other dog owners choose to
provide for their animals.
