Hi Lorena...welcome ! I cook for my dogs but about once a week but have essentially raised puppies on this recipe if you want to try it. Hugs,Mare in Okla.
Boil one chicken...remove bones. Grind in food processor Add 1 large micro-waved sweet potato...peeling and all Add 1 large can veg-all(make sure no onions) Add 1 cup oats Add 1 package calf's liver cooked Add 1/2 cup peanut butter add 2 cups cooked rice white or brown Grind it all up You can freeze it in ice trays for fast handling. My dogs adore this conglomeration! -------Original Message------- From: Lorena Date: 8/29/2010 9:31:21 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [Chihuahuas] Hi! Hello everyone! I've been in this group for a couple of months now and I thought I should finally introduce myself. I'm Lorena and I have a 5 year old chi named Monster. We live in central Texas. I've had Monster since he was 3 months old. We are very hard to separate and he is so very spoiled. He is also trained. Mostly... We went through all the obedience classes at PetSmart and he received Canine Good Citizen Certification. He loves doing his tricks! I still have problems with aggressiveness around his food and around me. He is very protective of me. We are working on it but not having much luck. I am currently in college getting by bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology. We also have a kitten, named Sunshine, that is 4 months old. Monster and her play sometimes. I was hoping he wouldn't be as lonely while I'm at school. We were gonna get another chi, but ended up with the kitten instead. My fiance loves cats. I still want another chi but I'll have to wait until we move from this apartment. I am very interested in the raw diet mostly because of his teeth. He's had his teeth cleaned once and had a little problem afterward. Now the vet is telling me to get another one. I wont do it. It scares me too much. I'm gonna do a lot of research before I decide to do it but in the mean time I was wondering if anyone cooks food for their dogs, like boiled chicken, etc. I feel good about feeding him cooked food and I figure it would be better than kibble until I decide on the raw. I've heard alot of good things about cooking for your dogs. Does anyone do it and could you give me some more info on it if you do? Like how its worked for you and where I can find some guidelines on how much and what to feed and how to cook it for them. Thank you!
