Hi Yes he has just about 2 things he can have. a little tennis ball (he love it) his bully stick, a soft freebie, and some snack items. The rope and soft stuffed toy turn him into a little monster with others. I do not seem to have issues with him with toys. I showed him that I will not take them by just petting him when he has them in his mouth. so now he trusts me. I thought that if I let him have the rope for a few days without taking it away, maybe he will not be so protective of it after a while. I feel that adding one toy a week might work. Just added his bully stick back in. seems to be ok now with that. :)

I would take away his notion that they belong to him as this can lead to other issues. I would do practice sessions of taking the toys right out from under him until he surrenders them without getting tense or eyeing you. Another great way to handle this is to teach him to retrieve them...then he "brings them" back to their rightful owner and relinquishes them. One toy is a very soft small stuffed cow... he loves it, and a rope, but I have had to put them away due to his gumpyness.
