Annette, I saw the show on the Monks too and was amazed at what they could do, I think they had some Divine intervention. they were so dedicated to those dogs. Loved it Nancy

I've been watching his show and reading his books, but I'm also reading stuff from others (my coworker recommended the Monks of New Skete who breed and train german shepherds, but they have a very gentle way of describing the connection between people/dogs/nature that I really like). I try to get bits and pieces here and there. It does get confusing when the books recommend different techniques, though! Pixie is good with me for the most part and with the rest of the family, but she is growling daily and nipping out at both our family and other people. I've started telling her no and grabbing her by the scruff of the neck and then leaving her in her crate for 10 minutes or so. She seems to not be reacting so strongly to it as she was at first (where she turned into a devil dog and bit me enough on two occasions to draw blood). No one has been mean to her or hurt her in any way. I've been working hard to follow through and I think she's a little better but still not at all where she needs to be. But she is only 12 weeks; maybe she'll get better over time. We start classes on October 31, so hopefully that will help. thanks for all the support! I'm really glad I found this listserv!
