Hi All!
Now that I have my email straightened out, I would like to introduce myself and
my girls. Gigi was recently adopted from E-bay classified. A college girl
offered her for a free adoption. She only had Gigi for one month and decided
she had to go back to college and couldn't keep her. She said that she adopted
her from a woman who also previously had her on E-bay and had her for two
months. This woman claims that she adopted Gigi from a shelter, which means
that some one had to have owned her prior to being in the shelter, which means
that within a three and a half month period, Gigi had now been shuffled around
five times! The woman claimed that Gigi was only two or three years old, and
not house broken which is why she didn't want her anymore.

The whole story was fishy because after having looked at Gigi, you could tell
that she was over five years old and she had a c-section scar and her teats
were very large for a 6 pound dog. My guess was that she was from a backyard
breeder, probably by the same woman who claimed to have adopted her from the
shelter. When I asked the college girl for her rabies tag/certificate she said
that the woman never gave them to her. She did email the woman and the woman
said that she didn't have any papers or info on her because she came from a
shelter. We all know that no matter what state you live in, dogs are not
released from a shelter for adoption unless they are given a rabies shot first.
It's a federal law. Although I knew that she was going to cost a small fortune
in Vet bills, (which she has) I felt so bad for her, that no one had given her
the attention that she really needs. The thought of her being shuffled around
anymore was killing me, so I took
her. She has finally found her forever home! It was the best decision I have
ever made. She is such a sweet joy to me!

During the first week of me having her, poor Gigi goes into heat. Her teeth
were very bad and they were causing her a lot of pain, although it didn't seem
to stop her endless pit of a stomach from eating! LOL. She was very laid back
and just slept constantly. She was always rubbing the sides of her mouth and
sometimes cried in her sleep. I had given her a bath just before she went into
heat because she had a horrible doggy smell all the time. I originally
thought that the black on her tummy was the color of her skin, only to find out
that the more baths I gave her, the pinker her tummy and teats were getting!
Plus that very long double c-scar all pointed to my suspicions that she was
nothing but a breeder and once they realized she couldn't produce any more they
got rid of her. My suspicions were confirmed by the Vet. He said that she had
way to many sutures for just one c-section. Two different Vets also estimated
her to be about 6 yrs old. She
weighs 6 pounds and is 9" from the shoulder.

So now that a bunch of teeth have been pulled and the infection is gone and she
is spayed and on a good diet, Gigi is a wonderful and happy little Chi. I get
the greatest kick out of seeing her do zoomies, and then go belly up for a
tummy rub. She now loves to go for walks holding her tail high instead of being
so afraid of everything like she was before. I take her everywhere with me and
I know that this has helped her tremendously to over come her shyness. She
loves it too. Now she doesn't even get car sick anymore. She still has a
bottomless pit for an appetite though. She was housebroken within three weeks
and I have to say, I never had a dog that did it that fast. She is perfect at
it. . Gigi has caught on real fast to many commands too. She constanly amazes
me how quick she is to learn things. She loves to be cuddled and be held and is
just so sweet. She hardly ever barks, only when I leave and then it is for
just a few minutes. Her bark is
funny too, more like a high pitched squeek and not annoying at all. The one
thing that amazes is that she can't sit pretty in the beg position for some
reason. She likes to crawl and then do the bow position on her side. It's so
cute, but I also know it is a very submissive postion for a dog to do. So who
knows what she has been through in her short life. I do know if I had my own
home and all Chi's were like her, I could have a dozen of them.

Gigi has a fur-sister, Princess, a minature American Eskimo, now also 6 years
old, who was was rescued by me from a local kill shelter four years ago. She
was found on the streets and was very leash aggressive. She was going to be put
down if the owners didn't claim her within the five days because of it. I was
actually looking for a toy breed at the time, and lucky me, just happen to know
one of the woman who works their. This woman knew that I know how to train dogs
and could rehabilitate Princess. So when the owners never showed up, I adopted
her. She was 7 pounds underweight and had three types of worms, and her fur was
falling out by the handfuls due to the worms and being so under nourished. No
wonder she was ornery! Well, once she was vetted and back on the road to
recovery I started her training. Part of her problem was not being acclimated
to the world around her, so her aggression was more out of fear then anything
else. You wouldn't know
that she is the same dog today. She is a joy and loves people and has a super
time at the dog parks interacting with other dogs and no more aggression.

Hope you enjoy their pictures
