Again, thanks for telling me this as sometimes I let people convince me that I
am nuts. But I am not hurting anyone by taking them and like I said I am a
wreck when I am not with them and I know they hate being without me. So I just
need to be more assertive and stand up for what I feel in my heart. It helps so
much when I find that I am not alone and many people feel like I do. I enjoy
every second with my babies! I did not get them to leave them I got them so I
would not have to be alone. So thanks once again Deanna for your input.

well...I don't know...I think I would maybe disagree a little on the leaving
issue. I think what makes a dog secure is knowing his person is there...they
are pack animals after all and as such don't spend time alone. I also don't
think dogs have a strong sense of time...I think you could be gone 3 minutes
and it might seem like hours so needing to leave them for long periods doesn't
make sense to me. The dogs that I have known over the years that had separation
anxiety were usually shelter or rescue dogs that had been seperated from their
owners and so had no sense of security. I think that setting boundaries and
rules with them...with you there...is what gives a dog a sense of balance and
security. When you can and when it's safe I think that dogs should go where
there people go. In a pack situation they are not left alone when the parents
go off to hunt...there are other trusted females and siblings and cousins still
around to keep them safe and in
order. Spoiling normally occurs because the "person" has no rules or
boundaries when he or she are there...not because they are with the dog
24/7...just my ramblin' thoughts...and of course a rationalization so that
I might have a good excuse to take my dogs everywhere LOL!!

yes and yes - mine cry when I take a shower too - but that is my fault because
I do not leave them alone enough. I am going to try really hard to be better
with the baby than I did with Abbey. But I was so afraid to leave Abbey and
come home and find her hurt or gone as I just lost Sami. So I made her neurotic
and now I am slowly breaking her. It is not her fault at all. But I also could
not help myself at the time. I did what I had to do and now we will work
together to make it better. Maggie is already so attached to me and now is the
time that I will start leaving her to run to the store so she learns that she
will be safe and that mommy will be home soon. Then when she gets bigger I will
leave them together and before long it will all be great. But its going to take
time and I am not going to rush it and scare them. It is also difficult because
I have days when my neuropathy is so bad that I can barely stand so I can not
leave, plus I have to take
medications and can not drive on them so I can only do the best I can. I hear
it over and over again - you need to leave your dogs more.... and it goes in
one ear and out the other. The truth is when I am away from them I am miserable
and so are they. But I will work slowly so that they can learn that it is okay
to be alone at times.
