When I got Ricky he would not eat any dog food at all. I had to cook for him
just to get him to eat. Now I think he was just upset over the change in his
life. from his previous home to the shelter, to me. the only dog food I finally
got him to eat was the freshpet select. He loved it! I still feed it to him,
switching back and forth now with Wellness canned and FreshPet select. Fresh
Pet also sells Fresh Pet Vital. Its as close to RAW as you can get with out
doing it yourself. I have not been able to find the Vital. only the select at
Albertsons. I think Wellness is a good dog food. :) there small breed dry has
been the only dry dog food he has ever eaten... but he does not eat much of it.

I am thinking to try a bit of raw feeding. but I have to learn how to do it
correctly. I do not have a grinder, but could get one. Ricky does not eat alot
of food in a day. He is a thin dog, but not as thin as he was when I got him. I
guess I should feel lucky he does not have a weight problem. He is very happy,
and healthy now!!

He is kibble fed and I leave the food out all day and sometimes he just picks
at it all day but most of the time he eats a couple times a day sometimes only
once a day. Sometimes I give him scrambled eggs for breakfast. As for treats,
he gets either a begging strip or a milkbone twice a day. He also gets carrots
occasionally. I've been considering raw feeding for awhile but I'm still not
too sure about it. I've also been considering switching him to freshpet select
or the honest kitchen food. I have a really hard time giving him new things
cause of everything that can go wrong. I'm so scared that I'm gonna give him
something that's gonna hurt him. I know I worry way too much and I know kibble
is not the best thing for him but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if
something happened to him because of something I did or gave him. So I have to
be completely sure about something before I do it. I know I'm probably bring a
little irrational but that's me
and I can't help it. And I just don't feel comfortable enough to feed him raw.
Do yall think cooking him food or giving him fresh select or honest kitchen
would be good alternatives to feeding him raw? I really wouldn't mind cooking
for him, I would actually love to do that, but I need to know what and how much
to give him. For now, I'm just gonna go ahead and cook up some chicken and rice
for him.

How often do you feed and treat him?

Rice and boiled chicken is good for upset tummies.
