You are so right, the same thing happened to collies when Lassie was popular,
and then how about the German shepherds, Rin TinTin, they just about almost
ruined that breed with all the inbreeding they were doing. It's interesting,
when I was a kid that's all you saw in the shelters and on the streets...
shepherd mixes. and that's all we ever had and Dal mixes too. We use to call
the Dal mixes Spotty, and most of the shepherd mixes were called Socks, because
they always like to chew our socks. Today the east coast and many other states
are overloaded with Pit bulls, i can't figure out why that happened since I
don't remember a movie on the breed. Of course the Western states are overload
with the Chi's, no thanks to their movie.

That is what happens when they make a movie about a certain breed. I owned a
Dalmatian before the movie came out and then was so saddened to see so many
Dal's at the pound. They are a lot of work in the beginning but they are
wonderful dogs. Mine was with me for almost 14 years and I just adored her! I
think the makers of these movies who made millions of dollars are responsible
too and should donate money to the Rescue Breed of any movie they do about a
certain breed. Because kids see the movies and then beg their parents for them
before they do their homework and its the poor animals that suffer terribly!

--- Lucy was my doxi . She lived 13 1/2 years died about 7 weeks ago to
congestive heart failure. I loved her she was such a sweet good dog, I miss
her every day. Lola is also very sweet, potty trained and loves everyone.
She understand everything I say to her. Someone trained her very well. I can't
believe she ended up at a shelter. We have so many Chiuhauhas at the selters in
Orande County Ca. I guess with all the movies with Chi's in them and all the
Paris Hiltons that had to walk around with them, made them popular out here.
We have more Chi out here in the shelters than any other dogs. Valerie

Very cute, Valerie. Is one of your babies a dachshund? I have three doxies
along with my little Chi baby.
