Valerie, Congrats on your new baby, Lola. I am thrilled to hear that you got her from a shelter. Your right, she looks like she could be this shelter guys sister! And those little floppy ears only make her that much more prettier and cute!
The Chi's don't do well in shelters, they thrive on being a lap dog. I know with all the changes (5 different homes within 3 and a half months) that Gig went through, I had to boost her up with Nutra-Cal for the first couple of days, to prevent hypoglycemia from all the stress. She was sleeping way to much and would be shaky when she wakes up in the morning, even though the house is warm and she has on a t-shirt. Even now I have to feed her right away in the morning or give her a couple of licks of the Nurta-Cal. The vet said that she may be a borderline for hypoglycemia. The maltese's that I had years ago, were very prone to hypoglycemia from any stress, even traveling with me. They were always being treated for it. Happy Thanksgiving to you too! and I will start working on Xmas pics next week. If you find a background that you would like her face on, please send it to me. ♥ Peggy & The Girls ♥ -----Original Message----- From: Valerie Mockett <[email protected]> To: Chihuahuas <[email protected]> Sent: Wed, Nov 24, 2010 5:37 pm Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Re: Chi-in High Kill Rome,GA Shelter THANK YOU Well that was such a nice thing to do. So many of us think about doing something like that, but just don't get around to it. I have a little blond chi, that I got from a shelter in CA about 5 weeks ago. She looks a lot like the Chi in the shelter. She is such a sweet dog and was so scared at the shelter. Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you.
