Pat, how wonderful that must of made you feel. I can not imagine what goes through a dogs mind when they are lost. Especially if they come from a home like ours where they are the center of our world. Please try I am sure their would be a group that would love to have you!

Why do you think they wouldn’t accept you?  Even if you can’t foster rescue groups need other things, transport (I actually do transport for several different groups), home visits, lots of things.

I foster for Chihuahua/small breed rescue but I do transport for Boxer, Dane and Rottweiler rescues.  And did foster, home visits & transport for Basset Rescue for 18 years.  When my last basset passed I decided no more big dogs.  I had a Chiweenie at the time (still have him) and decided chi’s were about the size I wanted.  Every rescue and shelter I looked at wanted $125-$300 adoption fee which just wasn’t in the budget at the time.  Then I saw a posting on Freecycle, 5 month old female chi.  E-mail for application form.  So I did, filled out the form and was one of the 3 people called for an interview (they were careful) and Mouse just attached herself to me.  I got to take her home and she is an absolute love.  I keep in touch with the lady I got her from on Facebook and send her occasional photos and updates (that was one of the requirements, keep in touch).

I’m at my parents right now, came for Thanksgiving and I’ve been gone almost 3 weeks.  I miss my babies.

Happy ending.. Chili's momma showed up looking for her.. And you could tell it was her dog.. Chili was so happy her whole body wagged.. (and I am horrible,) I was already thinking up names.. My dogs accepted her immediately. Guess they are used to fosters moving in and out, I would like to get hooked up with a real rescue group but I sincerely doubt they would accept me for multiple reasons.. Their loss , I will keep doing it unofficially until I can move into a different house.

PS I did counsel the lady to invest in a name tag.. I told her that her dog would  have b! een home much sooner if she had had one..
