I haven't had a serious flea problem in years because I treat my yard every other year with nemotoes and if needed, the inside with diatomaceous earth, that I sprinkle along base boards and in the dog's bed. Then I put a little in a sock and gently dust the dog with it. It's all natural and gets rid of fleas. Gloria In a message dated 12/2/2010 12:38:56 P.M. Essential Herbal Oils To Repel Fleas & Ticks These are nature's repellants. They ward off unwanted hitchhikers. Most common ingredients are citronella, cedar, eucalyptus, lemongrass, and lavender. Essential Oils are specially formulated to repel fleas and ticks without using insecticides. They are great for misting your dog's legs (and your own) any time that you go out where fleas would be likely to be found. They have a lot of other uses too. They are a repellant, not an insecticide, though. They can be found at most good health food stores. Shanna "My Chihuahua Ricky, Is A Heartbeat At My Feet." I don't administer flea meds. We are very fortunate as we live in an area where fleas are not a problem now but when I lived down off the mountain we had fleas...I just used the shampoo...and flea comb. I have tried many of the natural ways to go..tea-tree oil rinse, white vinegar rinse, ACV and they do help. The trick was daily keep up...but way better that than the meds. I have seen to many problems with friends using things like frontline etc...just not going there...and thank goodness we don't need it now anyway. Waggin' Tails in The Dog Park, Deanna .
