You have nothing to feel guilty about. It happens to the best of us. Chi's are so small, it makes it easy for them to slip in and out, un-noticed. Since she is still a puppy learning, maybe an expandable leash on her harness would help when you are visiting some one else's home.

We also have a lot of prey animals around here. She is just a baby and I need to think about everything as she is just learning. I know that I will now carry her in after she goes potty. She has always just followed her sister but may have got confused as we were somewhere else. Gail and I were both outside with them and watched them all go in and some how she ran the other way when we were not looking. No matter how well we've trained them or how obedient they are, they are still dogs and things happen.
