Yes, Ricky is black with brown points & short short hair. He has short hair like a boston terrier. no undercoat & no hair on his chest or tummy either!!  I have noticed since it has gotten colder here, his hair seems a bit thicker.. but he still gets cold. He must wear a sweater except at night. he has a nice warm inclosed bed, with his fleece doggie sleeping bag!

Ricky is black right? I have heard that black dogs do not shed as much as some of the other colors do, I have no idea if this is just an old wives tale, but Abbey does not shed either and she too can't afford to lose any of her hair - she is almost bald on her tummy (I love it to kiss her there) and she has the thinning around her temples. But to me she is perfect! It will be int resting to see if Maggie who is fawn/Blondie will shed.

Emiliano has what I would call a medium length and thickness long coat.  He does not shed much at all.  I do brush him twice a week.

I think it may have something to do with the type of coat they have.   Benji has a very thick coat
all over....  like maybe an undercoat of soft fur and then an outercoat of longish hair that really
grabs into everything.    just musing....

Peggy,

I’m so glad you asked this question. Jack, my newest addition to the fur family, is a white chi and I am covered in hair every time he gets up from my lap.  I’m surprised to see him lose this much hair in such cold weather.  I’ve tried brushing him but he’s such a wiggle worm. J  My other Chi, Twiggy, doesn’t seem to shed nearly as much as Jack.

Does a Chi Ever stop shedding?  Gig finished her heat by the end of Aug. Then at the end of Sept she got spayed. So I expected she would go through a heavy shed due to hormonal changes. But now that two months have passed, I don't see the shedding lighting up, if anything it's worse. I thought that after two months from the spaying that she would stop shedding.  Is this normal for a Chi?  Do they shed all year around?

Also I have two old fantastic lint removers that work great for Eskie fur, but don't for Chi fur. It's like the chi fur sticks into the material like needles. What brand and type do you ladies use to get it off of your clothes and furniture?
