I have had lots going on in my life for the past 3-4 years and just haven't had time to do much on the internet:) For the past several months I have been volunteering at the dog shelter where I live. It originally started when they asked me if I could take pictures of the animals there and put their pictures on petfinder trying to find them homes. I had never been to the shelter and as some of you know, I used to be a breeder. I was totally thrown back on my feet when I saw this place. It is an OLD shelter where the animals are all kept outside with no way to get out of the elements. They sleep in 50 gallon drums and the water always leaks in the runs...causing the cement floor to be an ice skating rink for them when it freezes. It is just awful. Well since starting there, I have now become way more involved than I had planned. This is a small town and people can be really cruel to their animals. Most of the dogs dumped at this shelter are in really bad shape....to say the least. I have brought 5 of them home now to foster and have found all of them wonderful homes. This past week, I went to take pictures and came across one of the worst cases of animal abuse and neglect I have ever seen. It was a puppy that was near death from worms and mange. I called a local rescue and told her about the puppy. I really didn't think she would take her as this puppy was so far gone. I was wrong...she immediately came and got her and took her to the vet. She is being treated now but it is expensive to say the least. We have set up an ebay auction to raise money for Noel's care. If you could findit in your heart to help, even $1 would help.
