It would seem that Danielle's burns are worse today and they have upgraded
it to 2nd and 3rd degree. As I am typing this, they are preparing her for
surgery. So we are just waiting it out....We will also have to wait to see
when she will be able to fly back home. She can't go back to the convent and
the apartment that she had due to the unsanitary conditions their. Those
poor people have to boil their water before using it, so it wouldn't be to
great to use for a burn victim. They have sent an American acting as an
ambassador on Danielle's behalf to stay with her. We are hoping that we can
have some one fly home with her too.

Thank you everyone who has kept her in their prayers....but we still need
more, she has a long way to go.

Peggy

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Need Prayers

Merry Christmas Everyone!

I need a lot of prayers for my favorite niece. I just came home from our
family's Christmas Eve Party, which my younger sister hosted. Her daughter
who graduated from college this past summer, is a volunteer through her
church to work in Bolivia. She has only been their for a couple of months
and has been hit with one bad thing after the other. Her work consist of
working with nuns, who devote their life to the very poor, mostly abused
mothers and children. They live in a very very poor neighborhood, food is
scarce as are a lot of necessities for every day living.

Well we were all waiting for her to call in on Skype and when she didn't her
mom knew something was wrong, since they always have their timing right for
all calls. Finally my sister made an international call, and poor Danielle
was hysterical. Just minutes before she had tried to light a very old oven
and it blew up in her face! She was all alone, as the nuns and all the kids
and other volunteers had gone to church services, which is 1 1/2 hours away.
Danielle wanted to stay behind so not only that she would be able to see
her family via Skype, but to bake some very special surprise cookies for all
the children.

After 45 minutes of trying to call anyone in Boliva, including the Boliva
police to get her some help, we finally got through to some one in our
government. A ambulance arrived from a local clinic. When they got her to
the clinic, no doctors were on call because of the holiday. After many more
calls, an ambassador managed to get a couple of doctors to her. All of this
took more then 2 hours to get her the help she needed! Her eyebrows, eye
lashes were burnt off, as was some of her hair. Her face had already started
to blister and swell up. We kept talking to her all the time, to make sure
she didn't go into shock from the pain and fear.

The doctors finally started to treat her with pain killers, IV, antibiotics
and clean the wounds. She has 1st degree burns on her face and some spots
are 2nd degree. Her arms and hands are 2nd degree. Her arms and hands got it
the worse when she was trying to put the flame out on her face and head.
Even with the pain killers she is still in a lot of pain. Thank God that at
the instance the oven blew she closed her eyes, or it could have been much
worse!

Danielle, is a very sweet, kind and totally giving person. She has always
wanted to help out the less fortunate. God gave her that gift to care for
the helpless and she does it so well. It is dangerous where she is too. Read
any news article on the Bolivia government, especially their President and
they don't like America, or Americans too much. She has had food poisoning
twice, and was almost robbed, but a good samaritan intervened. She received
a bad electric shock once when she was taking a shower, because the wiring
is nothing but cords all over the place. All of this within just the first
couple of months of being their. It's not an easy life for anyone who lives
their. They struggle day to day to eat, for shelter, clothes and the
necessities and of course their are a lot of bad people who take advantage
of others all the time.

Please unite with me in Prayer for her speedy recovery, and that the Good
Lord will ease her pain too, and keep her safe and free from any more harm.

Thank you all so much,
Peggy
