Subject: [Chihuahuas] Re: Bloody stool

Dogs are much more prone than people to show blood in their stools following
common stomach upset and/or loose stool. Knowing that blood in the stool is
often indicative of real problems in people, folks see a bit of blood in their
dogs stool following diarhea and, understandably, become very concerned. 95% of
the time this will simply end when the stomach upset subsides. That being said,
it rarely HURTS to consult a vet, but I don't find that necessary unless the
situation goes on for more than a few days, or if the amount of blood is really
substantial rather than streaky.
