I was on unemployment but it ran out in late Nov. and I am not working. I plan to apply for disability because I have spinal stenosis and working in the pet store field now is impossible for me. I want to... cause it fun. that is what I enjoy about this group the most is the interesting topics and secret pals stuff!! I want to mention to you that my daughter and her boyfriend have moved out. The boyfriend on Christmas day did a stupid thing teasing Ricky and refused to stop when asked, so I told him to move out. Ricky is doing so much better now with him gone. Thank You. I have a couple subjects to bring up in other posts. :) Shanna & Ricky --- On Fri, 1/7/11, Deanna Corey <[email protected]> wrote: From: Deanna Corey <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Chihuahuas] Kennel Cough To: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Date: Friday, January 7, 2011, 3:12 AM Hi Shanna!!!!, So glad to hear from you...we were all getting worried. I have been so busy with life and my ebay store. I want to say that when I rescued Ricky he has Kennel cough. The 2 vets never said he had it, but he was coughing, honking, sneezing etc for about a month or more before he got over it. I think he was so underweight and was not eating at the SPCA for 2 or 3 weeks he was there, he just got sick. I did not have him on meds, but feed him whatever he would eat and kept him warm. it took about a month. if you have your chi on meds, continued them until the vet says he or she is ok. Depending on the severity of the infection will determine how long and or what meds he or she needs. Keep her warm all the time with blankets, sweaters etc. Its best not to take her or him outside while sick. Hopefully you can use potty pads. I know others have given you good advice, I just wanted to put in my 2 cents and say HI TO EVERYONE!! I'm pretty new to this group and would like to discuss Kennel Cough in Chi's.... My baby Paris (3.1 lbs) fell victim to this horrible thing when I rescued an American Eskimo off of death row 3 weeks ago. I have her on meds but this morning she seemed to be struggling. Could you tell me if any of you have experienced this and what is the timing on how quick she should recover? She just finished her 10 day dose of Clavamox and is on another med. HELP!! P.S. When I took her to the vets he said the 2nd one should kick it into high gear. She sounds like she's sniffling inwards and her little body is trying to get it out!
