Desi had an undescended testicle and before he was 4 months old, the vet
examined him and said that we needed to get him neutered ASAP. He was
right. I could have had Desi neutered for $125, but he had the bad kind of
undescended testicle where the testicle was not attached to the kidneys (I
think.either that or the bladder). Well anyway, the vet had to make
multiple incisions to locate it and remove it as safely as possible. With
this type of undescended testicle it can wrap around the other organs or
artery and choke them off, or if it doesn't do that they can for a very big
ugly cancer.

For a simple neuter I will pay $135 plus pain meds--if more
involved(undesended testicle) it will be $195 and right now both boys will
need higher priced surgery.

Okay everyone.. Dani did well yesterday.. I made it through too.. I have to
addmit I cried when I had to hand her over.. Just something about handing
them off..

When I picked her up she was happy to see me.. She was drool n on her self.

I had her microchiped too. She was a bit restless last night so I gave her
some of the pain meds that I paid extra for. The total for spaying and
microchip $115.00

So not too bad.

I am just happy she is okay...

She will do fine, Abbey did not even use a cone and left her surgery site
alone. I did ask for pain meds and I am glad I did as the second and third
day she was uncomfortable - then it was like nothing happened at all. I also
bought some baby food (meat) for her when she got home.

Let us know how she is doing tomorrow.

Beth, My little Lola was spayed at the shelter when I got her. I don't
think she had to much pain and that is without any pain meds. They glued
the incision and didn't give her a cone. The problem I had was that when I
was a work or sleeping she would lick at it and it opened and had to be
reglued many days later. Valerie

Hi all,

I had to go to California and was leaving Dolly to be boarded and I asked if
they would spay her on Monday morning and I would be back in the afternoon
to pick her up. They said they would do it on Saturday and monitor her
there. When I got back she was groggy from the pain meds but it really
didn't seem to phase her too much (2 days later).

I had to take Desi to be neutered before 4 months.he had a genetic problem
where one of his testicles was not attached to the kidney. The vet had to
make several incisions to finally find where the testicle was floating
freely inside. At the same time, the vet removed his dewclaws. Desi has
never been a quite resting puppy.and he was running around the house even
with his little paws hurting from having the dewclaws removed. I think that
our little ones don't feel as much pain as we humans do.

Hi, Beth. I have had two chihuahuas fixed. My female was groggy and just
wanted to sleep for the next 24 hours. My male was, if anything, more
energized than ever. I had to keep him crated sometimes because he would
run around the house like it was a racetrack. Crazy. He was eating that
night, no problem. My female looked at me as if to say, "How could you?"
She didn't eat until the next day. Thank God for Nutrical. They both made
full recoveries and are as healthy as ever. Good luck and Dani will
definitely be in my prayers.

I am getting that nervous feeling in my stomach today.
Dani is getting spayed tomorrow, and I always get nervous about any surgery
on my babies. I drop her off at 7:30 am and pick her up by 4:30.
Having it done at the SB Humane Soc.
I am taking the day off, just cause I know I won't be able to think about
work.. LOL.. Say a prayer for Dani!!!
Beth, Smidgen Chassis & Danigirl..
