Oh okay so I can just get a litter box and line it with either the puppy pad or newspaper which I can get tons of newspaper for FREE on post.

When I first got the box, I bought a bag of litter but soon Emiliano was playing with it and tossing it all over.  The next thing he did was to try eating some.  So, almost immediately, I emptied the litter (threw away the full bag) and used newspaper.  It works great and is easy to fold up and dispose of.  The plastic litter box is the kind that has a sort of scoop opening in the front, it easier for them to get in and out of.
