Desi has always been food driven. I wondered what Dolly & Desi do when I am
gone. I think Dolly sleeps the whole time.

So, I wanted to give Desi something to do to get his treat because normally
I havent' even closed his gate and the cookie is gone. Dolly usually saves
hers until I get home. But, now I hide treats in various toys.Dolly isn't
as driven by the smell of a treat as Desi is, but I make hers a little
easier than his.

Thanks Joan, I'll try that. One of the quirky things that I've noticed about
Elmo is that he doesn't seem to play with any of his toys when I'm not here.
Maybe a little food incentive in the squirrel tree will change that. I do
continually worry about the quality of his life when I'm at work...which is
a fairly large chunk of time. I wish I could change that but *someone* has
to earn the dog kibble :)

Hi Beth,

I have that same one. I got it for $4 at Petco and when I came home I saw
that it only had two sqauirrels Desi liked playing with it, so I started
putting a cookie in it before I go out. I then fill the trunk with a bunch
of the other small dogs toys that we have and then he works at getting to
the cookie. He does a great job with it.

My Elmo adores the squirrel tree thing that can be found on Amazon. It's
pretty easy but it's THE favored toy right now, loves to prance around with
the squirrel in his mouth - it's a good size for a Chi. I was also
pleasantly suprised by how sturdy the toy was and how well-made.

And funny squirrel tree story....Elmo played with it on and off by himself
for two days, with me stuffing the squirrels back into it whenever I tripped
over them. Then suddenly Sunday night he decided that it was all too much
work (apparently) and hauled it up to the couch, deposited it on my lap and
stood there with an intent, expectant look on his face - as if I was going
to pull out those squirrels for him. No dice <vbg>.

Having just reread your email, Shanna, I'm not sure this is actually what
you are looking for. It does not have a treat compontent. But I'm so happy
with this toy, I decided to post my response anyway.

HI everyone

I want to buy Ricky an interactive puzzle treat toy of some sort, but would
like it to be fairly easy for him to figure out how to do it the first time
having one. does anyone have some ideas?
