Oh.so it is the one that did not have the multiple incisions that tore out his stitch!
Yeah.I know about the difficult surgery.I was a little shocked when I went to get Desi and saw so many incisions on his tiny (but chubby) belly. I also had his dewclaw removed, so he also had two little green feet along with all of the belly stitches. I don't even remember Dolly trying to get at his stitches.she was not real fond of him.but wanted him to lick her face and ears. Things have changed since then. I think that I heard one time that when dogs are neutered many times the vet uses the 'super glue' stuff that is also used in some human surgeries. Give both of them a little hug for me.and I know how you are feeling right now, too. I had Desi with all the cuts in his belly, and I had Dolly who lost some of her stitches early courtesy or Mr. Desi Lou, my stinkeroo! Keep us posted with what the vet says tomorrow! His stitches are intact. On Sun, Feb 6, 2011 at 1:39 PM, Joan Croft <[email protected]> wrote: My vet noticed that something was wrong when Desi was a little over 3 months old. We scheduled his surgery for as soon as I was able to care for him afterwards. He had quite a few incisions also. About a week later the lady that bought Desi's littermate brother met me at my vet's office.she had previously been taking the puppy to the breeder's house for his vaccines. I wondered why she hadn't just taken him to a vet, and the puppy therefore had never had an examination which included his heart, respiratory, or the others things that are checked. Well, when I bring my two, he will listen to their heart and their lungs and palpate here and there..this day with Desi's littermate brother, he went right for the groin. He felt and felt and then said that he is almost positive that he had the same condition. He said that the gene from the father is passed to every male puppy. When I asked if I should tell the breeder, he said she would know because the father would have one undescended testicle also. Well, I never saw his father, and when I told her that I would like to get a picture of Desi with his parents, she said that she gave his father to a friend who used to breed German Shepards. So she was going to set up a visit, but 'just the luck' or 'just in time' the friend moved and couldn't keep the sire and sold him on ebay..you DO NOT sell a breeding male on Ebay! Then I said that was OK, I wanted to get a picture of Desi with his mother.and when I went to the breeder so she could see how big he is (over 9 lbs and no fat) the husband told me that the lady who bought his mother moved away also! My vet said that the only other way that the puppies would have this condition was if the mother and father were too closely related.maybe that is what happened also.I will never know, but I am happy that my vet caught this early before it choked off something inside of him or developed into a 'big ugly cancer' as my vet said. I know it is so sad when your little ones are all cut up, but Desi really recuperated very fast (he had his dewclaws removed at the same time). Take care of yourself, too! Chico was cut in 3 places on his little tummy. And both weighed 4 1/2 pounds each. I am so glad to have them home. Thanks everyone for all the good thoughts. Ann -- -- Ann -- Ann
