Well Peggy! You said everything I wanted to say when I read it... so I then I TOTALLY AGREE with you!

however, I have to add my 2 cents!:

To the OP - if the pup or puppies were sick, it should not have left your home (or maybe its better off now). going out in the cold weather here and there only makes it worse on the pup. how will it get better? you do not care about the puppies... just money or you would not have let the pup go in the first place. You also would be paying for the vet bills. as peggy said, what is the difference if you pay the vet with her or a vet with you? I wonder if they even got shots! AND for heat, you could have bought a heating pad and put under there box, or a heat light bulb which you can get at a pet store in the reptile dept. how about a little heater next to there box?
there are ways to keep animals warm if you want to. you just do not care about the puppies as I said.. JUST MONEY. I hope that the lady does not give you back the puppy!

Why won't you pay for the Vet bills? You admit the pup got sick while under your care.  Does this mean that if she returned the pup to you, that you wouldn't take the pup to a Vet and pay to make it healthy again?  Why would you purposely sell a sick puppy to begin with, if you are so concerned about your reputation?

To be honest, you should not have bred dogs to begin with if you can't supply adequate heat for them.
You should not be breeding dogs at all, if you have no intentions of giving them Vet care when you know that is always a possibility when breeding dogs.

The woman is obviously in love with the puppy, like so many of us get when we buy a puppy and yes I think she is looking for you to pay the Vet bill and yes you should be made accountable to pay it.

You just labeled yourself as a typical Back Yard Breeder. A good breeder would have had the mother and all the pups checked by a Vet before they are sold, regardless if the pups were sick or not. A good breeder would not breed dogs knowing they can't give them the extra heat that they need. A good breeder makes sure that he/she has money set aside for Vet bills Before they breed.  A good breeder doesn't just breed to make money off of livestock, they breed to better the breed.

Would like some oppinions here. Sending this to Christian groups for moral
oppinion, breeder's group for the breeder's oppinion and non-breeder chi
group for the buyer's oppinion...covering all my basis :-)

My pups were ready to go Monday, and they went quick! 3 of the available 4
were sold before they were ready to go! However, last week was extremely
cold here. I'm gonna be very frank and honest. I can not afford to keep my
heat very high. My temps inside my home are set at 56. We keep
covered..its the best I can do. Anyhow, a couple of the pup's got a cold.
We had already arranged pick up of the pup on Sunday so when I met her we
discussed the cold. She did not have to take the pup but I told her, if
she wants it, take it to the vet and if the vet says anything is wrong,
she can return it and I will give her her money back. Monday I called her
to see what the vet said. She said the vet said the pup had broncitis but
was otherwise healthy and gave it some antibiotics and said he would be
fine in a few days. Again, I offered her a refund and return of the pup.
She said no. Said he would be fine. My contract states you have 72 hours
to tell me you want to return the pup and it states that if there is any
health concerns, remedies are limited to buy back of pup...I will not pay
vet bills.

Today she calls says it has been a week (actually only been 5 days) said
the pup was still not better and that vet wanted to do x-rays ect and
said it was genetic. I told her it absolutely was not genetic. I also
told her, although it had been longer than 72 hours, in order to preserve
my good name, I am STILL willing to give her her money back and she can
return the pup. She said they would wait and see what the test say and
then decide, then hung up. So I texted her and told her I would keep the
offer for a refund open another 24 hours....which will be 6 days total
when my contract clearly states 72 hours.

I do not know what she is wanting. I think maybe she expects me to pay the
vet bill, I don't know....but what more should I do? I will NOT pay vet
bills. I do accept that the pup got sick under my care which is why I have
extended the refund time. But at some point, I have to be able to say the
deal is done.
